Dr. Pitaras specializes in the diagnosis and management of kidney disease including acute renal failure, chronic kidney disease and end-stage renal disease. He is also trained in critical care medicine for management of ICU patients and is a board-certified vascular surgeon. Dr. Pitaras graduated from the University of Debrecen Medical and Science Health Center in Hungary. He completed his pre-med requirements at the University of Calgary in Alberta, Canada. He completed a critical care fellowship as well as an internal medicine fellowship at the Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. Dr. Pitaras has published work on the factors associated with severe hyperglycaemia in critically ill patients and has conducted research on the assessment of sleep apnea in patients with congestive heart failure.
